The New York City Independent Budget Office Advisory Board is meeting on Oct. 17. Members of the public can comment at the meeting, which will take place at 8:30 a.m. at the IBO’s offices on the 14th floor of 110 William Street in Manhattan, according to the City Record.

 

Nonprofit leaders are gathering in St. Lawrence County today. The county Chamber of Commerce is hosting its second annual nonprofit conference at an event that begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Best Western University Inn in Canton. What’s going on with Raise the Age? Two recent brawls among teens held at the Horizon Juvenile Center in the Bronx has raised questions about whether the city was ready to implement the legislation, considering that it was known in advance that officials would have to rely on corrections officers until enough youth development specialists could be hired, trained and deployed. A recent segment on “The Brian Lehrer Show” featured an in-depth discussion on the issue.
