Strategies to Create a Digital-First Culture

Today’s nonprofits are responsible for seamlessly integrating technology with mission fulfillment and demonstrated impact. To reach these technology goals for your organization, the leadership team’s vision must bring staff together, excite and support them through the transition, and encourage new technological development. Topics will include transferring your organization's workflow to the cloud era in a smooth and effective way, connecting technological systems on a limited budget, and maximizing staff impact in the community through the use of technology.

Making the Most of Your Data

Data analytics, big data, data science, data viz, business intelligence, machine learning, artificial intelligence… it can be difficult to keep up while keeping things at a reasonable cost. Nonprofits play an important role in this data revolution with the opportunity to transform human services, but many don’t know where to start. Whether you’re on your way to becoming a data-centric organization or you’re just beginning to study data accuracy and extraction, you can find more value in and maximize the application of data within your organization.

Create a Plan for Your Organization’s Success with Innovation, Technology and Strategy

Technology affects many areas of your nonprofit’s operations, from donor management to fundraising, accounting, marketing, and more. It’s important to approach new purchases, investments, customizations, and other technology-driven projects with a focused strategy.  A nonprofit technology plan gives your team this foundational infrastructure, allowing you to approach any technology overhauls with a clear strategy in place.  How can tools like dashboards and portals be used to improve success and outcomes?

Cybersecurity On a Budget: What You Need to Protect Your Organization

Nonprofits collect sensitive data, but very few organizations can be confident that they do not store any of this information, so it needs to be protected.  Cyber-crimes cause donors to lose faith in organizations, and hacking exposes vulnerabilities in nonprofits’ systems that can make donors feel as though the organization did not value them enough to enforce proper safeguards to protect their information. The session will examine what information should be kept private, what are the key threats to that information, how to support good cyber security with good employment practices and policies, how to implement the best security program and what to do if there should be a breach.

    • Marcel Braithwaite, Director of Community Engagement, Police Athletic League (Moderator)

    IT Staffing: In-House or Outsourced?

For nonprofit organizations, determining when to outsource IT support can be a complicated decision.  When determining to stay in-house or outsourcing some of the major factors to consider include cost, a need to supplement internal capabilities, having to rely on someone from the outside on privacy issues and more.  Whatever a nonprofit chooses the importance of a lead in IT support is more crucial than ever.  This panel will address the pros and cons to both.

Nonprofits are starting to utilize intelligent automation to improve the quality of their staffs’ lives, while focusing on automation to strengthen financial management and allowing them to focus on what they do best – providing exceptional services to their clients.  Agencies are using more data intelligence and automated systems to streamline processes for nonprofits.
