Family Services Inc. announced Leola Ruffin-McPhee as a new member of its board of directors earlier this month.

Previously serving on the Family Services operations committee, Ruffin-McPhee worked as a rehabilitation counselor at the Amenia Program Center until her retirement in 2014.

She is also involved with the Beulah Baptist Church, Friends of Poughkeepsie Public Library District, the National Alliance for the Advancement of Colored People, the Dutchess Democratic Women’s Caucus, and the American Association of University Women, and has served developmentally disabled adults in the mid-Hudson Valley since 1982.

“We are extremely pleased that Ms. Ruffin-McPhee has agreed to join us as she brings a wealth of experience and community – connectedness to the Family Services Board,” said Family Services Board Chair Paul Haering in a press release.

Founded in 1879, Family Services facilitates programs that provide youth services, crime victim services, domestic violence services, substance abuse prevention and family education. The nonprofit also runs two, 24-hour hotlines for crime and rape victims and for victims of domestic violence.
