Andrew Cuomo

Zack Fink on what the elections mean for Cuomo and the Dems in 2018

Zack Fink believes the Democratic victories in the election on Nov. 7 could be a sign of things to come. The Albany reporter for NY1 and frequent Slant podcast guest returned to talk about the election and what it means for the future of New York.

“I think it’s possible,” Fink said about a potential Democratic wave in 2018. “My only trepidation on that is that I feel like I hear every year, ‘This is our year.’ And it never is.”

He also got into the mind of Gov. Andrew Cuomo to discuss the governor’s probable takeaways from the election, and what the election results could mean for a potential primary and Republican challengers for the 2018 gubernatorial race. He believes that Cuomo will have a relatively easy path to re-election, although a primary candidate could challenge him on transportation and ethics reform.

Fink also discussed staff shakeups in the governor’s office, the strategy behind the “summer of hell” and how the state Legislature could challenge Cuomo.
