Sandra R. Krasnoff Appointed to Long Island Community Foundation’s Board of Advisors

The Long Island Community Foundation, an established philanthropic organization serving the people, communities, and institutions of Long Island, NY, has named Sandra R. Krasnoff a new member of its Board of Advisors. Krasnoff, who has a legal background in corporate management and regulatory compliance, will advance the expansive and wide-ranging missions of LICF.

“Sandra has outstanding integrity and leadership in community philanthropy,” said Executive Director David M. Okorn in a public statement. “We are honored to have her on our board and look forward to the invaluable commitment she will bring to LICF.”

Ms. Krasnoff, a resident of Oyster Bay Cove on the Island’s northern coast, is no newcomer to philanthropy. Her past experience consists of membership on the boards of American Dance Machine for the 21st Century and the Tills Center for the Performing Arts at LIU Post. A ’96 graduate of the NYU School of Law, Ms. Krasnoff held a number of high-level positions at the Pall Corporation, including General Counsel, Senior Vice President, and Corporate Secretary.

LICF, an active organization under the umbrella of The New York Community Trust, presents a new challenge and opportunity for Ms. Krasnoff. Since its establishment in 1978, LICF has extended $150 million in grants to a diverse set of established and emerging local nonprofits. As an appointee to its Board of Advisors, Ms. Krasnoff will also help oversee a network of donors that consists, in large part, of local homeowners, residents, and families raising their children on Long Island. While community foundations offer donors more of a voice in the appropriation of their contributions, the Board of Advisors must ensure the proper execution of these grants and increase the Foundation’s visibility.

In its most recent grants, LICF has highlighted water quality, rental housing, pediatrics, veterans’ affairs, and art education as main areas of concern.
