JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon visited the site of the bank's new global headquarters under construction in midtown Manhattan to thank union workers for reaching the halfway mark of the building project.

Dimon, joined by Gary LaBarbera, president of the Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York, came to  270 Park Avenue earlier this month to personally thank more than 1,200 construction workers on site.

“No one works harder than you do – in all kinds of tough weather conditions, including New York City humidity, doing a very difficult job. You are an exceptional group of men and women, and we are so proud of what you do. You are building this incredible building, in the best city on the best block,” Dimon told the workers on the 9th floor floor of the tower where a trading floor would eventually be installed.

The construction project has about 1,200 workers on site each day. According to JPMorgan Chase, the project will create more than 8,000 construction jobs from across 40 local unions. Additionally, the project is expected to generate about $2.6 billion in economic activity for the city and $3.6 billion for the state.

The 60-story tower once completed will rise to almost 1,400 feet. It is billed as the the city's largest all-electric tower with net zero operational emissions. JPMorgan Chase expects to have 14,000 working in the building by its expected completion in late 2025.
