Bronx Parent Housing Network rebrands to Housing Solutions of New York

The new name stems from the tremendous growth the organization has experienced over the past year.

The Bronx Parent Housing Network, one of the biggest emergency housing providers in New York City, is now undergoing a rebranding initiative and will now be known as Housing Solutions of New York.

“The rebranding efforts is a result of us expanding within the last year and a half” said Xellex Rivera, the organization’s chief program officer.

“Within the last year and a half, we have grown significantly, we've opened a little over 10 different facilities, five of them being on the Department of Homeless Services side, the other being on the emergency housing side, we have expanded our food and nutrition program. So we realized that with that growth requires a new thing,” Rivera told New York Nonprofit Media. “And because of that, we then went into a direction of strategizing our approaches to services to be more solution based.”

Recently, the nonprofit went through a restructuring within the organization, allowing the rebranding initiative to come with new leadership as well.

Now, Housing Solutions of New York is working with Mayor Eric Adams to respond to the asylum seeker crisis. The organization’s facilities that are designated specifically for asylum-seekers have translation support on site and provide pro bono legal services to try and help migrants obtain citizenship or proper documentation. They are also provided three meals a day and assistance in reconnecting with family members in New York City or other states.

“They're treated no differently than our other clients, our focus is still to make sure that their experience is humane, that their experience is respectful to them as a person, and then to make sure that their barriers are addressed” said Rivera.

Although there are significant changes within the organization, the goal of the organization is still the same: to end homelessness.

“The amount of resources that we have in this country alone should in fact, eradicate homelessness. So Housing Solutions of New York wants to be that leading agency that eradicates homelessness and minimizes that experience,” Rivera said. “But if you do experience it, it's to get the best quality service possible. So that way, it is just an experience and it doesn't become a traumatic life experience.”
